Slowing Down In Slovenia

If There's one place I would recommend to put on your bucket list it's Slovenia. We visited Lake Bled and it is fairytale like. There bright blue lake contrasts against the rocky mountain background, low misty clouds float by and huge green trees whistle in the breeze. It is the perfect place to slow down and relax.

After all of our travelling it was nice to be able to bring the pace down a notch and simply stroll along and admire such a beautiful view. We sat for a while just chatting away, watching people paddle in the lake.

We caught a breath taking glimpse of the sunset, the sky was burnt orange, almost as though it was on fire!

This was my favourite spot, it was practically like rock climbing to get to the top, but it was worth it just to get this amazing view,, you can see for miles over the lush landscape of bled. It was nice to feel the fresh wind on your face and perfect for people watching down below. It almost felt like you were sat on top of the world.

Of course it wouldn't be one of my travel posts if there wasn't a cake included (I know, I'm obsessed!). This is the traditional Bled cream cake, thin crumbly pastry on top with a thick sweet cream and custard middle. It was like heaven on a plate. I tempted to revisit not only for the fabulous views but to eat this all over again!

Slovenia is underrated as a travel destination in Europe but I think it has just as much to offer as the big guns; Paris and Rome. If you are an outdoorsy person you will be spoilt for choice with so many activities like tobogganing, cycling, mini golf, swimming and of course walking. You can even hire your own little rowing boat and go out to explore the little island in the middle of the lake. So I say that at some point in your life try and make a journey over to Lake Bled, I'm pretty sure you'll love it as much as I did.
