Summer Evening Make-Up Look

Hello There! So some of you (if anyone actually reads this!) may have noticed I've been a bit quiet on the blog front recently! I've been away for the week on holiday to Gran Canaria so gave the blogging world a little break, albeit I have posted regularly on Instagram. If you fancy having a nosey you can fine me here.

Whilst I was away we ate in the restaurant and watched the evening entertainment most nights, and even popped out for a wander other nights. I have mastered my perfect holiday evening make-up look and only really switched up my lipstick when I wanted to look a bit different.

I decided I should share with you my Summer Evening Make-Up look here on the blog as an instagram picture just isn't enough right?!

Hope I didn't scare you there with this extreme close up! But I wanted to capture the details as well as show how the make-up looks from an acceptable arms length!

For The Face

For my face I used Estee Lauder Double Wear very sparingly, this foundation is my holy grail make-up product and I can't go anywhere without it. It can be a bit heavy hence why I used it very sparingly, just enough to give a thin covering. I then used Collection's Illuminating Touch concealer in shade 1 'Naked'. I usually use the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, however, for a holiday look I decided to opt for something more dewy and glowing. This concealer really brightens up the face and gives off the perfect summer glow. I used Collection Translucent Powder to dab along my T-Zone and keep the shine at bay. I then went in with a Make-Up Revolution offering of their; bronzer, a peach toned blush from their 'Sugar & Spice Pallette, then to top it off I added a subtle sheen to my cheekbones using their Vivid Baked Highlighter in the shade 'Peach Lights'. For my face I wanted a natural, sun kissed glow.

For The Eyes

For my eye make-up I have used Urban Decay's Naked 2 Palette; taking the shade 'Bootycall' which is a peachy champagne colour all over the lid, then popping a bit of 'Half Baked' down the centre of the lid, which is a stunning gold shade and finishing with 'Tease' in the crease, which is a mid tone matte brown. This creates a lovely warm golden smokey effect and really makes blue eyes pop. For my winged liner I opted for Primark's felt pen and finished off with Maybelline's 'The Falsies' Mascara. I used a couple of coats to create the desired effect.

For The Lips

For this night I used MAC 'Girl About Town', but I also took 'Chatterbox' and 'Morange' Too.

Et Voila! My perfect Summer Evening Make-Up Look is complete! A dewy bronze base with a golden smoky eye and a fuchsia lip.

What's In My Holiday Make-Up Bag?!

Packing Make-Up for a holiday is my favourite part of packing in general. I love picking out some of my favourite pieces to take and all the options i'll have. Bright lips are my 'thing' and a summer holiday is the perfect time to pull out those neon pink and poppy coral tones.

So let's dig in!

This is the make-up bag I'm taking, its a Ted Baker one that my lovely friend got me for Christmas last year. I really love the print and colours in it. It's also a very generous size which is handy for someone like me who likes to take a lot of make-up!

For my Face:

- Estee Lauder Double Wear
- Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer
- No7 Beautifully Matte Primer
- Make-Up Revolution 'Sugar & Spice' Blush Palette
- Make-Up Revolution Baked Highlighter
- Collection Powder

For my Eyes:

- Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette (my favourite!)
- Primark Felt Liquid Liner
- Superdrug Edition 20 False Lashes
- Maybelline The Falsies Macara
- Collection Volumising Waterproof Mascara

For my Lips:

- Kiko '605'
- Mac Ruby Woo
-Mac Girl About Town
-Mac Chatterbox
-Mac Morange

That's everything I'm taking in my holiday make-up bag! Some of you may think it's excessive, others may think it's not enough but it's just the right amount for me. I hope to peruse around Duty Free before we jet off!

Kiko '605' Lipstick Review

A kiko store recently opened up near to my home town and I couldn't wait to pop in and have a look around at the collection. I'm a huge lipstick fan and so that was my first pit stop, and I was not disappointed. I didn't leave empty handed of course!

I was instantly sold by the 605's packaging; silver, gold AND rose gold?! Love, love, love it! The next thing of course that grabbed my attention was the colour. I am a big red lip lover, I adore MAC's Ruby Woo and other variations on the shade red. I wanted a more warm orange toned red and was actually going to buy MAC's Lady Danger, until this little beauty caught my eye- and it was cheaper too! Bonus!

It is a Matte Velvet Lipstick and is therefore very wearable and has excellent longevity. You don't need to worry about it smudging like you do with most reds. I am still on the hunt for a good lip liner to go with it, so if you have any recommendations for an orangey red lip liner then please pass them this way!

The application is lovely and I only needed to apply it in two coats to get a lovely opaque matte finish.

This is the colour pay off when swatched onto the back of my hand and this is how the lipstick looks actually applied to the lips..

I really love how lovely the colour looks against my skin tone, and particularly think it would look good when I have a 'smidge' of fake tan on and a golden bronze eye make-up look. It is the perfect summer red. Very warming to the skin tone.

I give this lipstick a 10/10, the packaging is stunning and easy to clean, the colour pay off is impeccable and the longevity is good too. What more could you ask for in a lipstick really?!

How I Get Bikini Ready

So I'm going away in just 6 days! I cannot wait to get some sun, read a good book and sip cocktails by the pool. Bliss. However, I'm one of those people who doesn't feel confident in swimwear, and to combat this every year I go through a little routine that makes me feel better about myself and more confident in my bikini. I salute you ladies who exude confidence and strut your stuff pool side, and totally wish I could do the same, but alas I am one of those who is a little more self conscious. I thought I would share with you some of the things I do to help me feel 'bikini ready' for any of you ladies who feel the same way I do!

First things first is tanning! I don't really tan, pale skinned, blue eyed and blonde hair means the sun doesn't do much for me, unless you count making me resemble something of a lobster if I'm out too long in it! So I like to opt for faking it instead.

My favourite tan is the St Moriz Mousse in Dark. I have used this tan for years now and it's always been one that I go back to time and time again. It applies beautifully and doesn't leave me streaky which is perfect when my entire body is going to be out in my bikini!

I like to use an exfoliator first a few days in the run up to my holiday, I combine this with good lashings of moisturiser. I love the Vaseline Spray & Go as it dries quickly, but leaves my skin well moisturised. By doing both of these steps it helps make my skin smooth and soft, ready to apply the fake tan. This helps to keep the tan in place for longer, meaning that it's less likely to flake or go patchy.

I always feel so much more confident with fake tan on, I don't really know why. I just think I look a lot more toned when I'm tanned.

Whether you tan naturally or are a fake tan lover like me always make sure you take a good Sun Cream with you. I always ensure that I use a really good SPF, having fair skin means I'm more prone to burning and need a higher SPF to protect my skin. Fake tan alone doesn't have any sun protection in it so you need to make sure you apply some sun cream before you go out in the sun.

Another important step for me is hair removal. It is something I have tried and tested over the past few years.

I have tried hair removal creams, which I find work alright, but they don't always remove all the hair. Then there's waxing which I'm yet to find a way that doesn't leave my skin looking like a red plucked chicken. I could go and have it done professionally, but to be honest I like the privacy of my own home!

Finally there is my fail safe method of simply shaving. Now this method is the most thorough way for me, but the results don't last as long as other methods. Meaning that I take my razor with me on holiday to keep the pesky hair at bay. This doesn't bother me at all but some people may not want the hassle and therefore shaving may not be best for you if you don't want the up keep!

I've been considering getting an epilator in the future and see how that works for me, but for now I will stick to shaving.

A further tip that makes me feel good is finding the right bikini for me, a good cut and fit can do wonders. I prefer underwired bikinis over pure material ones as these give the best support. I also prefer a mid rise bikini bottom to low or high rise ones. Don't be afraid to try a few different styles to find a cut that you love and feel confident in, whether that's a two piece, one piece, tankini or otherwise.

By no means am I saying that in order to feel confident you need to do any of these things,  they are simply my personal preferences that I thought I would share with you.

So go out there and don that bikini with confidence!

What's In My Travel Toiletries Bag

So I'm going on holiday next Thursday! I have started putting together all my bits and pieces and the packing is under way. I decided to take the time to share with you the things I pack in my; toiletries, make-up and hand luggage.

For part one I thought I would do my toiletries bag, aside from my make-up, it is one of my favourite things to pack. I always see holidays as the perfect time to give yourself a pamper. Cocktail in hand, deep conditioner in my hair, utter bliss.

So let's begin with the face products:

I always take face wipes, I know its a bit of a beauty blogger sin to use face wipes, but I find them so handy for more than just make-up removal. I have also packed a sample size of MeruMaya Melting Cleansing Balm, to remove my make-up fully at night time. Then to replenish my skin after it has been in the sun and water, I have brought along my L'Oreal Triple Active Day Moisturiser which is really good for thirst quenched skin. I may also bring along a face mask, just to give my skin an extra treat.

Body Products:

I love having a variety of body products to hand when I'm away, especially when I have to wear swimwear on a daily basis! I am obsessed with this mango and papaya shower gel it smells amazing. The obsession continues with this Primark body spray with the same scent, I couldn't believe my luck when I spotted it! I liked it so much so I picked it up in Strawberry and Raspberry too. They both smell delicious.

Again, with the swimwear department in mind I picked up this perfecting body cream, to give my skin a luminous glow. I plan to use this mainly along my legs to give them an elongated look, as well as in the evenings on my d├ęcolletage. I'm hoping it works! A review will definitely follow.

Another extremely important part of holiday packing is skin protection. Using a good SPF is vital when you're going away and you expect to be out in the sun a lot. I have both a 50spf and 20spf sun cream. As well as a Vanilla SPF 30 lip balm to protect my lips. The Reese's lip balm was a bit of a novelty treat found in the men's section in Primark, I just love reese's cups and can't wait to use this!

Finally for body products is the necessities; deodorant, moisturiser, razor etc.

Hair Products:

I thought I would leave out the boring stuff such as; shampoo, conditioner and hair spray as these are the basics to pack. Instead I have included my ultimate go to product, dry shampoo, I love this stuff so much! I try not to wash my hair too much at home but especially on holiday when it has been battered by the sun and sea. I like to keep it as nourished as possible. To keep grease at bay I like to use this Batiste dry shampoo.

Another little product I'm packing is my Blow Dry Lotion that helps give my hair some extra volume, my hair lies quite flat so I like to try and inject a bit of life into it using this.

May Summary

Another month has gone! Ahh! I say this every month, but time is flying. We are half way through the year, it's practically nearly Christmas. Ok maybe a slight exaggeration, but you know what I mean! Life hasn't changed too much over this past month, still working, still learning to drive, still blogging. My blog is a year and a half old now which is amazing, I always get random ideas to do things but never stick at them until now. So I am very pleased with myself!

I've been getting on with wedding planning and after a few changes the ceremony and reception venues are now all finalised and I will be moving on to the photographer next. So all is going swimmingly in that department. I am  going to be doing a few crafty pieces for the wedding so if anyone wants to see those I will be more than happy to share! I will be starting them soon as like I said above, I often start things and they get abandoned!

My driving lessons are coming on nicely, slow and steady progress. I really hope to be passed by the end of this year, I look forward to having freedom and not relying on everyone for lifts. I owe so many people that when I do finally pass I may as well slap a taxi sign on my car for the next few months as I have some making up to do...haha.

We had a cheeky bank holiday trip to Chatsworth which was lovely, we packed a picnic and spent the day wandering around the gardens. Stopping for a hot chocolate as we went. I've really enjoyed going to different places this summer and hope to keep it up!

Our holiday is fast approaching so a lot of this month has been preparing for that, buying new clothes, planning what we want to do there and the typical 'holiday diet' which hasn't gone to bad to be fair, I've been pretty good! I'm really looking forward to relaxing for a whole week, I've bought as book and plan to get well and truly lost in it, only surfacing to get another cocktail. Bliss.

So let's sum up May in Instagram:

1. I bought this cute travel cup so I can go mobile with my tea addiction!
2. I've used this Make-Up revolution highlighter every day in may
3. Caramel Frappuccino- soo good.
4. New look sale gets me every time
5. An outfit I wore on a sunny evening stroll
6. The book I've picked up to read on holiday
7. My first outfit post in a long time!
8. The tea addiction grows and this is delicious
9. Having a play around with my favourite lipsticks.
So there is my May in summary, hope you've enjoyed a sneaky peak into my month.
What have you been up in May?
