A Valentine's Day Inspired Make-Up Look

I wanted to put together a make-up look that was fit for Valentine's day, one that could be worn for having brunch with the girls, a date night with your partner or having a bit of 'me' time. I decided to stick with what I know best, a bold lip. I absolutely love this purple toned pink, and I think it would suit most people.

For my base I used this Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, which I apply a small amount evenly all over my clean face. This helps my foundation apply much more seamlessly by smoothing out my pores.

For foundation I used my trusty Estee Lauder Double Wear, in the shade Cool Bone. This is my every day holy grail beauty product. If I could only ever buy one foundation it would be this one. It's easy to apply and you can build it up from medium coverage to high coverage.

I then used the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes. This helps to brighten up my face and conceal any redness.

For my cheeks I have used Sleek's 'Chantilly' Blush from their Blush by 3 palette, which is a stunning coral colour. I sweep this over the apples of my cheeks, for a fresh faced 'pinched' look.

I then use Sleek's Solstice Highlighting Palette. I have opted for the 'Equinox' highlight, and applied it all over the tops of my cheekbones. I've received so many compliments about how radiant and glowing I am when I've worn this highlight, that I'm going to do a whole separate review on it!

Finally, I apply a bit of Collection's Pressed Powder along my nose and chin, to keep the shine at bay.

For eyebrows, I have again, used two of my favourite products, the Benefit 'Ka Brow' and 'Gimme Brow'. I was lucky enough to try these products when they were first launched and they have quickly become my eyebrow staples.

Ka Brow is a brow pomade that I apply in light strokes along my brows, to make them look much fuller. I then apply Gimme Brow on top, which adds texture and extends my natural brow hair. The two together are a Brow match made in heaven.

For my eyes I wanted a smoky gold eye with a hint of purple. I used Sleek's Vintage Romance Palette. I started by applying the shade 'Meet in Madrid' which is the gold shade, second along on the first row, all over my lid. This gave a warm shimmery look to the eye.

I then took 'Marry in Monte Carlo,' the purple shade, second along on the second row, and applied this in the corner and crease of my eye. I blended this out to be very light smoky wash of colour.

To finish I applied a mid toned brown from my Urban Decay Naked palette to deepen the whole look up.

I created winged liner using my Rimmel Scandaleyes liquid liner, which has an easy to use pointed tip. To finish I applied Nyx Doll Eye Mascara to my top and bottom lashes.

I love these colours together as they give a really soft, romantic edge to my make-up. By using a purple tone shadow with the golds and browns it gives the whole look a unique twist.

For my lips I've used Nyx's Soft Matte Lip Cream in 'Prague' as the focal point of this whole make-up look. It's a stunning purple toned pink, that really pulls the whole look together.

The staying power of this Matte Lip Cream is incredible too. I went for afternoon tea and it lasted really well, which makes it perfect for Valentine's Day dinner and drinks. The consistency is light and it isn't too drying, I only had a small amount of flaking right on the inside of my lips, but I had been scoffing cake and coffee, which probably did it no favours!

I hope you enjoyed this make-up look, what are your plans this
Valentine's Day?

Finding My Dream Dress

I couldn't be a fashion blogger without sharing the most special outfit I'll ever wear, my wedding dress. It was love at first sight when I tried this dress on, it was every bit me. I felt glamorous, sophisticated, and most importantly beautiful. Who doesn't want to feel this way on their special day.

From the moment we got engaged I was hooked on wedding planning, furiously pinning on my secret Pinterest board, buying all the magazines and pouring over Rock My Wedding. Of course one of the things I looked at most was all of the dresses; strapless, beaded, white, tulle, fitted, flared. All that choice. How was I meant to decide?

I knew I wanted a white dress with sleeves, and when I first stepped foot into the store, I had to admit the overwhelming feeling surged. There were rails upon rails of white and ivory dresses, it was hard to know where to start! Me and my mum spotted this one first, hanging in all it's white, sparkly glory. Call it luck or fate, but it was the first one I tried on, and though I tried on more after it, I just knew this was the one

It's a white, tulle and lace dress. The bodice has delicate beads sewn all over it, and the back is all lace. It has a delicate scalloped neckline which gave the whole dress a soft, feminine, elegant and timeless feel. It had a long glamorous train, which was definitely a show stopping feature I loved.

Prior to visiting any bridal stores, I had first thought that I wanted an all lace mermaid style dress, but after trying on two in that style, after this one, there was no comparison. This one fitted me in all the right places, was comfortable to move in, and made me feel confident.

I love the button detail back, and the illusion lace. All carefully crafted together, with delicate beading, that sparkled when it caught the light. The moment my Dad first saw me on the morning of the wedding, and how he had tears in his eyes further instilled in me that I had made a very good choice with this dress.

If you'd like to see how I accessorized for my wedding day, I have a post up all about it here.

My advice to Bride to Be's who are looking for their dream dress would definitely be; to be open minded and try various styles, listen to your own gut instinct, and go with what you feel your best in.

I really hope you've enjoyed reading this post, as much as I have enjoyed writing it

How I Find My Style Inspiration

Fashion is very much an individualistic thing and with social media taking centre stage, there are so many ways to express your personal style. For those days where I'm left staring into the abyss of my wardrobe, wondering what on earth I'm possibly going to wear, I turn to a few, select platforms, to help give me inspiration.

The following platforms not only help me with my day to day outfit struggles, but are also really useful for; seeing the up and coming trends, helping you style specific pieces, or just for a plain old nosey at what other people are wearing.

I thought I would share with you where I turn to for my style inspiration.

1. Instagram.

My favourite social media platform, I could spend hours scrolling through this app. I'm going to be featuring a blog post all about my 5 favourite fashion accounts on Instagram soon, so keep your eyes peeled for that one. However, it's not just about individual accounts, the use of the #hashtag also gets my creative fashion juices flowing.

Most stores have clocked the effectiveness that social media has on fashion, and therefore have devised clever hashtags for individuals to show off their items. There's #myboohoostyle #imwearingri #thisisnewlook and many more. I love searching through these hashtags, as you get to see pieces from your favourite stores, styled by real people. I love to see how people style pieces differently, as this gives me my own ideas on how I would style it.

My number one fashion inspiration platform has to be Instagram.

2. Pinterest.

Pinterest is a site where you can create mood boards/wish lists by pinning pictures you like to 'boards', a bit like a virtual mood board. I literally love Pinterest, I have a home d├ęcor board, fashion board, travel board, you name it I have it. You can pin what your heart desires. It's a particularly great platform for fashion too, by typing in key specifics such as 'summer fashion' it brings up pages and pages of pictures that people have uploaded of their summer fashion looks. You can then pin these to your own board for future reference, like when you need a cute outfit for that girly picnic you have next week, or that date you've been looking forward to. You can also search for specifics like 'white tshirt outfit', and you will be shown hundreds of ways to style a white t-shirt. Great for those days where you just don't know what to put on.

3. Primania.

If you've followed me for a while, you will know that I shop a lot at Primark. They have the latest trends for great prices. I love looking through Primania, to not only see how people have styled pieces, but also to see what's new in store. I can often be found on youtube watching Primark hauls and jotting down a quick wish list of things I need to pick up on my next visit. You can upload your own photo to Primania of yourself styling their clothing, this is then shared on their website where others can get inspiration from your style. I love it, yet still haven't plucked up the courage to post my own looks yet!

4. New In Section.

Ahhh the one thing that makes my bank account cry, the new in section. I am forever re-freshing these to see what's just come in to store. It's a great way to see what trends are coming up for the next season, and also to help you see what items to expect in store. I like to see if I have anything similar in my own wardrobe, and then decided whether there are any key pieces I feel I need want to add to it. Beware though, things can get a little spendy.

5. Street Style.

I did a lot of this whilst backpacking around Europe. Find a cute coffee shop and perch outside and watch the world go by. Sometimes my greatest fashion inspirations are the people you see out and about doing their own thing. I love how unique everyone's style is, and this really helps me to develop my own personal style as well as admire other's. Grab yourself a cuppa and a notebook and off you go. Simple as that.

I hope this has helped you out of a style rut, or maybe your looking to expand your wardrobe for the new season ahead and didn't know where to start? Well all of these platforms are perfect places to begin, and most of them don't even require you to leave the house! Hoorah!

The Perfect Winter Sun Destination

Now that Christmas has been and gone, I can't help but day dream about basking in the warm glow of the summer sun. Why wait until summer though (unless, like me, your bank account is crying right now), there are some amazing winter sun destinations. Escape the frost, and the endless mornings of de-icing the car, grab a mojito, and get some much needed vitamin sea.

Some of you that follow me on social media, or have read my blog, will know that I recently got married. We researched for a while about where we wanted to spend our honeymoon, and with us getting married in winter it made looking for the sun even harder. That's when we were recommended The Dominican Republic.

It was an easy 8 hour flight there, which we spent watching films and being spoiled by Thomas Cook in the food department! We even has a mini ice cream, which seriously made my flight.

We stayed at the Grand Palladium Hotel, in a Junior Suite. On arrival we were given a fruity cocktail, and taken to our room where we received a lovely gift of fresh fruit. I was even surprised to find that the mini bar was part of the All Inclusive, and was re-stocked daily! Hello Champagne!

Our Room was bright and spacious, with crisp white wash walls, and shiny tiled floors, it oozed luxury. There was an impressive Four Poster Bed that took centre stage of the room, which was complete with an array of tropical inspired pillows.

We had the luxury of a deep Jacuzzi style bath, as well as a separate bathroom complete with shower. The room also came with a pretty patio area over looking the pool.

From our door there was a path that lead straight to the beach, where you could hear the soft hum of the waves, gently swashing in and out. It was so refreshing to roll out of bed in the morning, and head for a long walk on the soft white sand, before breakfast.

The hotel complex itself was vast, we probably didn't even cover a quarter of it in the week that we were there. It has an impressive 22 bars, 8 a la carte restaurants, 5 pools, a spa, and a casino! There's definitely plenty to keep you busy with just the hotel itself.

We spent most of our time relaxing in each other's company, only moving from the sun lounger for a dip in the sea, or another cocktail. However, our restless feet couldn't relax all week and we were itching to do some exploring. We decided to book ourselves on to two excursions, the first one being a Mega Truck Safari.

We were picked up from our hotel in this vibrant, beast of a vehicle! Once every one had been picked up we set off on the first part of the trip, to the sugar cane fields. We learnt about how it is harvested and the sheer hard work that goes into each working day. It was an eye opening experience, which lead us on to travelling to Higuey. Higuey is the 8th largest city in Dominican Republic, we drove through the main centre, passing schools, shops, brightly coloured houses and more. Our destination was the Basilica of La Altagracia.

We had some free time to explore the Basilica of La Altagracia and had a cheeky rum tipple, before carrying on with our tour. Our next stop was a local coffee and cocoa plantation, where we were going to be given the opportunity to try some real Dominican chocolate & coffee. Two of my favourite things.

We got to experience the whole process of making coffee and chocolate. It was so interesting, and the work that goes into making them is unbelievable.

We were treated to a buffet style dinner, with the most breath-taking view.

After filling up on rice and beans and taking in that view, we headed back to the truck for a quick stop at a stunning river, and then on to the local beach for a little R&R before heading back to our hotel.

For our second trip of the honeymoon, we booked a catamaran trip to Saona Island. Saona is the most stunning island I have ever seen, it has even been used for the Bounty Chocolate Bar Advert. The white sand is so soft, it's like walking on a cloud, and the crystal blue sea is a dream to swim in.

We frolicked in the sea, lapped up the sun and treated ourselves to a cheeky Pina Colada. This excursion is a seriously relaxing one, from lazing on the catamaran, to floating around in the sea, expect to return to your hotel feeling revitalised.

Dominican Republic is the perfect place for a winter sun escape, it has the enticing white sand, sparkling blue sea, and plenty of adventure too. It was an idyllic place to spend our honeymoon and we have so many special memories to take away with us from it.

Top Ten Moments of 2016 & My 2017 Goals

As 2016 is now coming to an end, I like to look back at the year and reminisce about some of my favourite moments. 2016 has been one of the best years of my life, so much has happened and I can't believe that as I leave 2016 I'm now a home owner and a wife! Two of my favourite moments this year, and probably two of my biggest life milestones too. I'm not too sure how 2017 is going to top this, but it sure will be fun trying.

Not much can top this one, so it had to be my number one favourite moment of 2016. I am actually a wife!

2. Our Honeymoon.
We went to the Caribbean for our honeymoon, a place which we've never been to before and I've got to say, it was breath-taking.

4. Buying Our First House.
This was a long time in the making, we had started looking for a house about a year ago, but a job change and being picky buyers it took us a long time to find somewhere we wanted to call home. Eventually though we came across a beautiful 3 bed semi and fell in love. Our first home together.

5. Incredible Opportunities.
2016 has saw me receive some incredible opportunities blog wise. I have attended blogger events with Intu Victoria Centre, Nottingham. I have been able to work with some amazing brands. I was even invited to stay at Ox Pasture Hall in Scarborough, a beautiful country hotel. I am so grateful for all of these opportunities and have enjoyed blogging so much this year.

6. Spending my Birthday in Harrogate.
I was thoroughly spoilt with a weekend away to a cosy b&b in Harrogate, complete with a spot of shopping and afternoon tea. What more could a girl ask for!

7. Enjoying Our Spare Time.

This year I wanted to make the most of our spare time, our days off and our annual leave. Boy did we manage this, we went on day trips, out for nice meals, saw our friends. It was so nice to not waste a moment of it.

8. Spending More Time with my Family.

Since moving out, I make a conscious effort to spend time with my family. I look forward to our weekly catch up, hear what they've been up to and just bask in their company.

9.Making some amazing new friendships.

I have made a lovely group of friends through blogging this year and I look forward to all our future meet ups in 2017.

10. Our First Christmas as Mr & Mrs.

It was our first Christmas in our own house, the excitement of decorating it exactly how I wanted, buy all the food I wanted and host Christmas dinner for all our family was wonderful. I loved hosting parties, games nights and dinners at our house and being able to spend time with our family.
