The Secret Garden Show, Winster

We recently paid a visit to the gorgeous village of Winster for their annual Secret Garden Show. I had found out about it through the realms of google, when trying to plan something for my weekends off, and was instantly excited. I adore home décor, gardens and cute villages so this was an ideal activity for me! The people in the village open their gardens for people to visit and admire, there were around 20 this year.

We set off to Winster with our friends and parked up in a nearby field. We paid our £4.50 and received a wrist band and a map of all the gardens that were open, with what to expect in them. There was also a handy guide that told you how accessible the gardens were, and if they accepted dogs too.

We hopped on the free shuttle bus to the start of the trail and began exploring.

The streets were lined with bunting, and you could hear the faint melody of jazz playing. We worked our way around the gorgeous homes and gardens, marvelling at how amazing the spaces were.

We stopped for a quick refreshment at the local pub, The Old Bowling Green. I obviously had a cheeky Gin, which was lovely and much needed after a lot of pottering around the gardens.

There were some absolutely gorgeous gardens, some small, some multi level, all of them perfect and bursting with colourful plants.

A lot of the garden owners had gone all out with putting on refreshments, home made cakes, and even a live Jazz band! It was amazing and really made the day even more enjoyable. We treated ourselves to a cheeky Pimms from one of the gardens.

We finished our garden tour at one of my favourite gardens, it is not one for the unfit though, it is almost vertical! However, the views at the top are so worth all the steps up. It is such a little haven and I could imagine if it was my own home, I would spend many hours sat at the top with a good book, enjoying the views.

If you are home décor, or garden obsessed, like myself, then I would highly recommend looking out for next years Secret Garden show. It's the perfect day out full of beautiful blooms, tasty treats and fruity refreshments. I will certainly adding it to my calendar for next year too!
